NatWest Venus Awards Portsmouth 2014 – Finalists Announcement!

Around fifty hopeful semi-finalists in the NatWest Venus Awards Portsmouth 2014, arrived at the Langstone Hotel, Portsmouth for the very exciting finalist’s announcement.  One could sense the great expectations felt by all with each and every one of them wondering if they would be on their way to the grand Awards Ceremony at the Marriott Hotel Portsmouth on Wednesday, 1st October 2014.  Only 3 from each sponsored category would be chosen and so the competition was high.

As the sponsors, guests and supporters were all were enjoying the beautiful afternoon tea, the Venus Awards founder Tara Howard welcomed the expectant finalists and congratulated them all on reaching this stage.

The awards were founded by Tara Howard, then Managing Director of Langtry Manor Hotel in Bournemouth.  When asked her reasons for starting the awards, Tara replies…“Being a mother of four at the same time as running a successful business, I know only too well the pressures that women in business can be under.   We often undervalue ourselves and our achievements and shy away from the limelight.   I wanted to create an environment where women can be recognized for their achievements by their colleagues, friends and family as well as provide a boost for their business and themselves.  It inspires me as I experience the excitement, pride and sense of achievement of these women as they make it through the various stages of the awards.”

After all was said and done, and with tears of excitement shed in some cases, the finalists are!…
