Recognising Local Business Women
The NatWest Venus Awards were set up in 2009 to recognise business women across the country. The awards allow people to nominate for their favourite working woman. There are a variety of categories that you can choose from, with some having sponsors. The 15th May, 2014 saw the exciting NatWest Venus Business Women Awards in Birmingham 2014. The ever so glamorous launch party opened its Birmingham nominations in association with Johnson’s VW.
Business men and women were given a warm welcome at the New Hall Hotel by event organiser Joanne Gilbert-Lewis of Event Group UK and Venus Awards founder Tara Howard.
The pair introduced the various categories and officially opened the online nominations for Birmingham! The evening was set to impress the high powered women of the county, with yummy food provided at the event by the New Hall Hotel.
This is Birmingham’s first ever Venus Awards! The interest and enthusiasm for the event has been sky high, which is amazing! With more pre-nominations coming in than anywhere else! Venus Awards has been recognising and rewarding women since 2009 with the commendable event expanding into 8 regions across the country, there are many more to come, so watch this space!
Last year the Venus Awards were held in several areas, Dorset, Southampton, Brighton, Bristol and Devon amongst others. Each event held last year attracted almost, a staggering 1,500 nominations. However with the inclusion of the Birmingham event, it promises to be bigger and better than ever before – very exciting!
Talking about the impressive growth of the Awards, Tara, herself a business woman and mother of four, commented; “It really is inspiring to see how much support and enthusiasm there is for the awards and what a difference they can make. I’ve even had past winners confess to me that the awards have changed their lives – that’s really powerful, and drives me forward to expand, and launch the awards in new regions to recognise more deserving women.”
